2008 CSA Shares

Arrowhead Farm is pleased to offer the following share programs:

Vegetable Share 2008

• A basic Vegetable Share provides approximately 8 to 20 pounds of vegetables, depending on the season. This is usually enough to fill one large grocery sack or more.
• The cost of the basic vegetable share is $600.00.
• The shares are distributed weekly mid-June through early November

Some items you can expect in your vegetable share, weather dependent:

Early - Mid Summer: Lettuces, beet greens, mesclun mix, spinach, beets, cabbage, broccoli, peas, summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, assorted greens, cherry tomatoes, basil, arugula, carrots, rhubarb, swiss chard, and green onions

Mid - Late Summer: Tomatoes, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, green beans, summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, red potatoes, yellow potatoes, white potatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, lettuces, assorted greens, onions, basil, beets, carrots, swiss chard, celery, peppers, and eggplant

Fall: Tomatoes, basil, zucchini, peppers, cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash, sweet dumpling squash, delicata squash, red potatoes, yellow potatoes, white potatoes, onions, peppers, eggplant, celery, turnips/rutabagas, sweet corn, sweet potatoes, lettuces, greens, sugar pumpkins, beets, carrots, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, swiss chard, brussels sprouts, and kale

As well as a few surprises throughout the season.

Flower and Herb Share 2008

• Add a Flower/Herb Share - the flower and herb share consists of a cut your own garden, which will be available to members only during the normal distribution times
• The cost of the Flower/Herb Share is $125.00, due at sign-up
• The shares are available mid July through mid October or about 12 to 15 weeks

Eggs and Meat Share 2008

• Add an Eggs and Meat Share - the protein share will consist of 4 to 5 items including eggs, beef, pork, lamb, chevon/kid. Each item should be about 4 servings each.
• The cost of the Eggs and Meat Share varies, and is due at sign up.
• The shares will be distributed April through November

Shares are limited and will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.
Reminder: This is an add-on share; you must be a vegetable shareholder to participate.

Fruit Share 2008

• Add a Fruit Share - the fruit share consists of both pick your own and already picked fruits that are in season
• The cost of the Fruit Share is $190, due at signup.
• The shares will be distributed early August through early November, or approximately 13 to 14 weeks, dependent on the weather.

Some items you might expect in your Fruit Share:

Our berries are grown with no chemical fertilizers or pesticide sprays.
Tree fruits are grown using I.P.M (integrated pest management) methods, with limited
minimal spraying.

Breakfast Share 2008

• Add a Breakfast Share - this fun add on includes everything you might want for a big Sunday Breakfast for the family.
• Eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage, hamsteaks, honey, maple syrup, fruit preserves, jams, jellies, fresh berries (seasonally), and fresh fruit (seasonally).
• Each share will have 4 to 5 items each week to serve 4 or more servings each.
• The cost of the Breakfast Share varies and is due at signup
• The shares will be distributed April through November

Shares are limited and will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.
Reminder: This is an add-on share; you must be a vegetable shareholder to participate.

Thanksgiving Share 2008

• The Thanksgiving Share - almost everything you need for a Feast of Thanksgiving (sorry, no cranberries). This share is available for purchase as a stand-alone share or as an add on share.
• The cost of the Thanksgiving share varies and is due at sign up.
• Sign up for the Thanksgiving share is September 15 through April 30, 2008. The shares are limited and the deadline is STRICT because we need to hatch your turkey on time!
• If payment is a problem we will accept half the share price at sign up and half due by October 1, 2008.

Some of the items included in the Thanksgiving Share:

Share with Hen Turkey (14 to 20 lbs.) $185.00
Share with Tom Turkey (18 to 32 lbs.) $215.00

Shares are limited and will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.

Everyone Eats

Remaining vegetables are donated to local food pantries at the end of each distribution week.
