2010 CSA Shares

The CSA at Arrowhead is pleased to offer the following share programs:

    Vegetable Share 2010

    • A basic Vegetable Share provides approximately 8 to 20 pounds of vegetables, depending on the season. This is usually enough to fill one large grocery sack or more.
    • The cost of the basic vegetable share is $675.00, or a half share for $375.00
    • The shares are distributed weekly mid-June through early November
    • Twilight Meetings and a chance to ask questions and tour your crops while they grow
    • Pick-Your-Own and extra quantity when crop yields allow

    Some items you can expect in your vegetable share, weather dependent:

    Early - Mid Summer: Arugula, Assorted Greens, Basil, Bean Green & Yellow, Beet Greens, Beets, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, French Crisp Lettuces, Fresh Garlic, Green Onions, Heirloom Lettuces, Kale, Kohlrabi, Peas, Spinach, Summer Squash, Swiss Chards, and Zucchini

    Mid - Late Summer: Assorted Greens, Basil, Beans Green & Yellow, Beets, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Eggplant, French Crisp Lettuces, Heirloom Lettuces, Heirloom Tomatoes, Hot Peppers, Kale, Lettuces, Onions, Parsely, Peppers, Plum Tomatoes, Pole Beans, Potatoes Blue-Red-White-Yellow, Romano Beans, Summer Squashes, Sweet Corn White & Bicolor, Swiss Chards, Tomatoes, and Zucchini

    Fall: Acorn Squash, Assorted Greens, Basil, Bok Choi, Broccoli, Broccoli Raab, Brussels Sprouts, Butternut Squash, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celeriac, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Chinese Cabbage, Collards, Delicata Squash, Edamame, Eggplant, Heirloom Tomatoes, Kale, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Lettuces, Onions, Potatoes Blue-Red-White-Yellow, Peppers, Plum Tomatoes, Sessantina, Shell Beans, Spinach, Sugar Pumpkins, Sweet Corn Bicolor and White, Sweet Dumpling Squash, and Sweet Potatoes,

    As well as a few surprises throughout the season.

    Shares Available

    Livestock Share 2010

    • Add a Livestock Share - the protein share will consist of 6 to 8 packages including, pork, lamb, and beef. Each package should be about 4 to 6 servings each.
    • The cost of each Mixed Livestock Share is $106.00, which includes a $5.25 butcher fee and a $.75 U.S.D.A. Inspection fee. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is due at signup with remainder due one month before your chosen pickup date.
    • The shares will be distributed every two weeks starting March 6th and running through December 20th, and are being sold as two-week shares
    • Our meat is raised using all-natural practices, no hormones or antibiotics, no animal by-products, butchered at a U.S.D.A. licensed facility, inspected, cut, packaged and flash-frozen.
    • Remember, you are purchasing a share of Livestock, paying a butchering and inspection fee and agreeing to pick your share of meat on the pickup date. Each date has limited shares, so please sign up early.
    • We are offering Beef, Pork, or Lamb/Mutton only Shares in 2010, cost will be $138.50, which includes $5.25 butcher fee and $.75 U.S.D.A. inspection fee. Limited number are available, so reserve yours early.
    • All Beef is properly dry-aged

    The Kitchen & Cutting Garden Share 2010

    The Kitchen & Cutting Garden Share will run from mid-April through Thanksgiving, or about 32 to 35 weeks. The cost of this share is $385 or about $11 per week average. This is going to be a fun, hands-on, full season share for the serious gardener/cook who uses fresh herbs, baby vegetables, micro-greens and fresh flowers.

    The season will start in April with greenhouse grown living salad bowls grown on benches for easy cutting. Baby greens, fresh lettuces, spinach, Asian greens and herbs. Patio or Doorstep pots of pansies will be given to each shareholder for home color. A special treat will be the Fresh Daffodils for cutting!

    May and June will offer fresh herbs and micro greens for cutting, grown in wooden apple boxes on benches surrounding the pickup area. Among the herb offerings will be Basil, Oregano, Dill, Catnip, Curly Parsley, Lemongrass, Sage, Italian Parsley, Greek Oregano, Italian Oregano, Hot & Spicy Oregano, Gold Sage, Fennell, Lavender Blueberry Ruffles, Lavender Boysenberry Ruffles, Lavender Mulberry Ruffles, Lavender Sugarberry Ruffles, Lemon Sage, Savory, Lemon Balm, Berggarten Sage, Watercress, Munstead Lavender, English Thyme, Garlic Greens, Nasturtium Flowers, Lavender Provence, French Thyme, Shallot Greens, Viola Flowers, Cutting Celery, Lemon Thyme, Silver Thyme, Lime Thyme, Silver Lemon Thyme, Golden Thyme, Lavender Scented Thyme, Orange Scented Thyme, Oregano Scented Thyme, Rosemary Spice Island, Rosemary Tuscan Blue, Rosemary Hill's Hardy, Rosemary Barbecue, Israeli Rosemary, Peppermint, Spearmint, Orangemint, Lemon Mint, Moroccan Mint, Kentucky Colonel Mint, Pineapple Mint, Chocolate Mint, Cilantro, French Tarragon, and Stevia. Some of the micro greens will include Mesclun Mix, Baby Swiss Chard, Baby Arugula, Tangy Mesclun Mix, Micro Beet Greens, Baby Raab, Sugar Beet Sprouts, Micro Collards, Micro Lettuces, Baby Spinach, Micro Kale, Lollo Rosa, Baby Fordhook Chard, Summer Savory, Mizuma, Broccoli Sprouts, and Baby Romaine.

    July through September will offer a greatly upgraded Cutting Garden along with the continuously growing boxed herbs. New this year will be the Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes to be included with this share. The Cutting Garden will include eight colors of Snapdragons, twelve colors of Zinnias, Tall Blue Ageratum, Purple Gomphrena, Tall Pink Celosia, Blue Salvias, White Shasta Daisies, nine colors of Tall Garden Phlox, ten colors of Statice, Old Fashioned Feverfew, Tall Cosmos, Sunflowers and Brown Eyed Susans.

    The Heirloom Cherry Tomato varieties include Gold Nugget, Chocolate Cherry, Fargo's Yellow Pear, Oregon Cherry, Sweety Pie, Red Mr. Stripey, Sweetheart Grape, Sweet Gold, Sun Gold, Yellow Jelly Bean, Juane Flame, Red Zebra, Cuban Gold, Snowberry, Yellow Plum, Washington Cherry, Green Zebra, Orange Paruche, Isis Candy, Eastern Early Cherry, Juliet Plum, Yellow Honeybunch, Sweet 100s, Jolly Red, Tigerella, Porter's Pink, Brown's Cherry, Orange Sunshine, and Sungella. You can try a different Heirloom Cherry each week! Cherry tomatoes are the perfect kid-sized finger food.

    October and November you can choose and plant your own Fall Chrysanthemum planter in your own doorstep or patio planter. Herbs, micro greens, sprouts, and baby greens continue growing either in outdoor boxes or back in the greenhouse depending on the weather. All season offers the opportunity to help plant either in the greenhouse or out in the field. The Cutting Garden is available to shareholders anytime for those extra occasions that come up. This should be a fun, full season share.

    Fruit Share 2010

    • Add a Fruit Share - the fruit share consists of both pick your own and already picked fruits that are in season
    • The cost of a full fruit share is $400, or a half share is $250, payment due at signup.
    • The shares will be distributed every week mid June through early November (except mid July), or approximately 19 to 20 weeks, dependent on the weather.

    Some items you might expect in your Fruit Share:

    • Blueberries
    • Apples
    • Strawberries
    • Pears
    • White Peaches
    • Raspberries
    • Cantaloupe
    • Watermelon
    • Yellow Peaches
    • Nectarines
    • Rhubarb

    Our berries are grown with no chemical fertilizers or pesticide sprays.
    Tree fruits are grown using I.P.M (integrated pest management) methods, with limited,
    minimal spraying.

    Early Season Vegetable Share 2010

    • The Early Season Share starts in mid/late April and runs thru mid June
    • We benefit from the late winter sun shining on the Farm's greenhouses to gain early production
    • The cost of the Full Early Season Share is $325, due at signup, a Half Share is $225
    • We reserve the right to add a $15 heating oil surcharge if March is colder than normal.
    • This is an independent share and can be purchased separately

    Items included in the Early Season Share: Mesclun Mix, Heirloom Lettuces, Beet Greens, Sugar Snap Peas, Green Onions, Shallots, Garlic, Chives, Swiss Chard, Red Onions, Spinach, Sessantina, Radishes, Pak Choi, Basil, Broccoli Rabe (raab or rapini), Rhubarb, Turnips, Savoy Cabbage, Portugese Kale, Mizuma, Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens, and (hopefully) the first early strawberries!

    Shares are limited and will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.

    Late Season Vegetable Share 2010

    • Extend your vegetable season with this Late Season share.
    • This share is available for purchase as a stand-alone share or as an add on share.
    • The cost of a Full Late Season Vegetable Share is $250 a Half Share is $175 and payment is due at sign up.
    • We reserve the right to add a $15 heating oil surcharge if November is colder than normal
    • This share will start in early November and run through mid-late December

    Some of the items included in the Late Season Vegetable Share: Kale, Celery, Collards, Carrots, Spinach, Heirloom Lettuces, Celeriac, Red Turnips, Green Onions, Rutabagas, Cabbages, Winter Squashes, Swiss Chard, Fordhook Chard, Pak Choi, Bok Choi, Brussels Sprouts, Kossac Kohlrabi, Red Choi, Scallions, Leeks, Parsley, Sage, Tatsoi, White Salad Turnips, Spicy Greens, Arugula, and Heirloom Apple Varieties

    Shares are limited to 100 and will be sold on a first come, first sold basis.
